Dublin, our glorious and beautiful capital city
Even with all our current woes, what a great and beautiful city we all live in!
Today I had the pleasure of strolling around town and taking some snaps. The weather was wonderful and Dublin was sparkling and gleaming in the sunshine. Sometimes we forget how well off we are in our storied and cultured city. Trinity College is a gem of architecture with the mixture of new and historical buildings pleasing to the eye.
The stately and flowing Liffey river whether your look towards the city or out to sea always looks the part.

Finally, and to be topical a building in College Green. I wonder what it's future holds, will it continue to be "The Bank of Ireland College Green" or is there a new chapter ahead?

Today is a good day
We are in a recession in case you haven’t noticed. Our ILP class this morning though is certainly not in recessionary mode. We are using the opportunities which are being presented to us today and allowing ourselves to expand and grow in mind body and spirit.

Protesting for their futures
Today, I was in town and was impressed with the fine turn out of students protesting against possible fee increases. I believe that making decisions to deal with out current recessionary deficit should definitely not involve education. If there is one thing that we all have learned is that "EDUCATION IS THE FUTURE....".
The marching student's banners, posters and t-shirts said it all:
EDUCATION NOT EMIGRATION

Weather is what you make of it
There are days when the weather rules and today is one of them. It could not be more miserable, wind blowing hard and rain coming down in sheets. But coming home is always good and getting warmed up great.Recessions come and go but we still have the little things to brighten our lives.
Today my happy moment revolved around the trousers. I had never wore them while cycling in heavy rain before and I was concerned about how wet I was going to get. The trouser's name "SOLAR DRY" wasn't appealing to me either, considering the monsoon conditions. But low and behold having stopped for a coffee, I found that my amazing SOLAR DRY trousers lived up to their name and dried out almost immediately!
Happy days...sometimes "it does exactly as it says on the tin"

Rainy days and Mondays
Sitting here on a wet and windy Monday would under normal circumstances be quite painful but not when you can add a posting to your blog! (Too much excitement!)
To say the least Saturday's blog class was very interesting and I look forward to the weeks ahead and where we go with it. Like most of you I don't quite know where blogging is going to take me but I'm certainly looking forward to the journey.
Our current recession is really my first recession. Even though I'm in my forties (still just about) I have no recollection of severe times. My parents were the great providers and life in general was fine. As always we didn't have much but thankfully we didn't need much. I learnt a good lesson early on, to cut your coat to suit your cloth.
Today thankfully again, life has not been to unkind and our current family circumstanses are working well for all concerned. I do feel deeply though for the people who have been severely rocked by this recession and hope new and sunny days aren't to far away for all.
Would I ever have got involved with ILP without the recession, who knows? However one way or the other I intend making the best of it and enjoying our Saturday mornings blogging with smiles and laughs.
